The Payroll Tax Compliance Accountant is responsible for managing the full scope of payroll tax activities across all Client companies. This role ensures timely registrations, accurate tax filings and deposits, and adherence to federal, state, and local regulations. The position supports payroll operations by maintaining system accuracy, resolving tax issues, and coordinating with internal teams and state agencies.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage state income tax and state unemployment registrations for all Client entities.
- Maintain and update state account IDs, deposit schedules, and filing requirements in UKG.
- Assign TPAs within UKG and ensure all state credentials are current and accurate.
- Ensure timely and compliant payroll tax registrations, updates, and filings.
- Maintain accurate documentation and reporting of all state tax accounts and credentials.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations across all companies.
- Recommend improvements to payroll tax processes, systems, and internal controls.
- Coordinate with multiple departments and state agencies to resolve tax-related issues.
- Provide ongoing communication and support across internal teams.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Human Resources, or related field.
- 3-5+ years of payroll tax or related experience required.
SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Strong knowledge of payroll tax rules, state registrations, reconciliations, and internal controls.
- Exceptional organization and attention to detail.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Experience with payroll systems (UKG preferred).
